Declaration of independence

A Declaration of Independence is a document or an action with the inhabitants of a hitherto dominated by another territory, proclaim in the past usually also a colony, its political independence.

Expiration

The formal declaration of independence does not always follow immediately the actual independence of the country. Firstly, there is often resistance from the ( former ) colonial power or the (old) state, from which the de facto regime wants to split off against his will; on the other hand, the group, which explains the state independence, not necessarily the support of the majority of the population. Many declarations of independence, therefore, led to wars of independence, some, however, remained without consequences.
