Geography
Dederstedt located approximately 10 kilometers east of Lutherstadt Eisleben and about 6 km north of the Sweet Lake. The village Dederstedt is located in the Natural Park "Lower Saale Valley ". Through the town flows the Laweke.
History
1127, the village was first mentioned as Diderstidi. More mentions took place in 1212 as the Dederstede, 1230 Dhederstedten, 1272 and 1395 as Diderstedten Dederstedten.
The place belonged in the Middle Ages to the northern Hosgau or in ecclesiastical terms, the Halberstadt Archidiakonatsbezirk Eisleben. Dederstedt one of the Altsiedlungen in the upper Lawekegrund and was for a time also the seat of a lower noble family of the same name, whose surname sturgeon. The town was incorporated in the Mansfeld region in the municipality of sea area on 1 September 2010.

The late Roman church of St. Susanna in the core is attested from 1230. From 1910 to 1927 Dr. was med.hc. Otto Kleinschmidt pastor of the church.
