Deep transverse perineal muscle

The deep transverse perineal muscle ( " deep transverse muscle dam ") is a striated muscle of the pelvic floor and perineum ( the perineum ). It rises on the lower branch ( ramus inferior ) of the seat leg and pulls in the direction of the median plane where it attaches to the perineal suture ( perineal raphe ), together with the corresponding muscle of the opposite side. It is used as part of the external urethral sphincter (musculus urethralis ) compared with the sphincter urethrae membranaceae.

The musculus transversus superficial perineal serves to stabilize the pelvic floor and maintaining continence.
