Deeper Than Rap received by the editors of e-zine only two out of five rating points. The editor Dani Fromm showed greatly disappointed by Ross' third album. In particular, according to the good ratings for the albums Port of Miami and Trilla, Deeper Than Rap could not meet the expectations. Fromm is particularly critical of the productions of the songs that appear undercooked and bland. Without the appropriate instrumentation, the " technical wretchedness plainest Endreime " and the superficial themes of the album will significantly. Positive exceptions are the hook to Usual Suspects and the pieces Face and In Cold Blood.
