Reception

Criticism

Deeper Than Rap received by the editors of e-zine Laut.de only two out of five rating points. The editor Dani Fromm showed greatly disappointed by Ross' third album. In particular, according to the good ratings for the albums Port of Miami and Trilla, Deeper Than Rap could not meet the expectations. Fromm is particularly critical of the productions of the songs that appear undercooked and bland. Without the appropriate instrumentation, the " technical wretchedness plainest Endreime " and the superficial themes of the album will significantly. Positive exceptions are the hook to Usual Suspects and the pieces Face and In Cold Blood.

Success

The album was sold 158,000 times in its first week, making it able to reach # 1 on the U.S. album charts. So Deeper Than Rap is the third album by Rick Ross in a row that could be placed on the peak position on the charts. In the second week sales of 51,000 units were sold, so that the recorded music fell to fourth place in the album charts.
