Deerfield Beach is a city in Broward County in the U.S. state of Florida with 75 018 inhabitants ( 2010). The geographic coordinates are: 26.31 ° North, 80.12 ° West. The metropolitan area has a size of 38.7 km ².

Geography

The city is located 15 km north of Fort Lauderdale and 45 km north of Miami. Surrounding municipalities are Coconut Creek, Pompano Beach, Lighthouse Point and Hillsboro Beach ( Broward ) and Boca Raton ( Palm Beach).

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 75 018 inhabitants spread over 42.671 households. The population density was 2155.7 inh. / Km ². 65.8 % of the population were white, 25.6% African American, 0.2% Native American and 1.5% Asian Americans. 4.1% were members of other ethnic groups and 2.7% in different ethnic groups. 14.2 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 36.7 % of all households lived in 23.1 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 53.7 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.22 persons and the average family size is 2.94 people.

19.8% of the population were younger than 20 years, 25.8 % were 20-39 years old, 27.1% were 40-59 years old and 27.4 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 43 years. 48.3 % of the population were male and 51.7 % female.

The average annual income was $ 38,822, while 17.5 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 75.36 % of the population spoke Spanish 8.70 %, and 15.94% had a different mother tongue.

In Deerfield Beach, there are 44 different churches from 20 different denominations. Among the belonging to a denomination churches the Baptist church is most strongly represented at seven churches. There are eleven to no denomination belonging churches ( as of 2004).

Traffic

The metropolitan area is crossed or affected in each north-south direction from Interstate 95 and the Florida 's Turnpike. Other roads are U.S. Highway 1 and Florida State Roads A1A, 5, 810, 811, 834, 845 and 869 ( Sawgrass Expressway toll road).

The Deerfield Beach station is a railway station in the regional and long-distance transport. Here hold both the trains of Amtrak from Miami to New York City as well as the traits of the Tri-Rail from Miami to Mangonia Park. The nearest airport is the Boca Raton Airport ( national) and the Fort Lauderdale- Hollywood International Airport.
