Deesen

Deesen is a municipality in the Westerwald district in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Ransbach -Baumbach.

Geographical location

The community lies in the Westerwald between Koblenz and Siegen on the edge of the Rhine -Westerwald. The Saynbach, which belongs to the catchment area of the Rhine flows through the community.

History

The first mention of the village in 1218 as Desene when Count Heinrich von Isenburg the Abbey Rommersdorf gave a light interest. 1271 sold the abbey Rommersdorf the Hermann von Desene different goods in Deesen. 1531 had the Mant of Limbach a farm in Deesen. Until 1664 it was isenburgisch, then kurtrierisch, of Nassau from 1803. 1866 came to the village of Prussia. The Customs and spell inn in the district Deesen is mentioned in 1667 and 1723. The old school is a listed building.
