Default (computer science)

Default or default referred to in the art, particularly in the IT and programming a preset input variable or a predetermined software setting that is used if the user (or the programmer ) does not enter a value, or does not perform its own settings. In technical jargon, also derived from the English word default will be used.

Preferences can be set or from external databases in the program code itself ( lookup tables, parameter files, from a ' registry ', etc. ) are loaded. In some applications, they can be restored by a specific command.
