Defense Superior Service Medal

The Defense Superior Service Medal is a prestigious award of the United States and is awarded for extremely meritorious service with significant responsibility from the Ministry of Defense of the United States.

It was donated by the President of the United States Gerald Ford on February 6, 1976. Assign the Defense Superior Service Medal most experienced officers, for example, to the General Staff officers or naval staff officers who have paid over a long period of armed forces across services.

For cost reasons, the design of the Defense Distinguished Service Medal was taken, however, in contrast to this not gold, but silver.

This award is given in the Pyramid of Honor under the Silver Star, but higher than the Legion of Merit award rate.
