Deimos (Greek Δεῖμος, horror ) is a deity or a daimon of Greek mythology.
For Homer in the Iliad he was together with Phobos, fear, companion and servant of Ares. Since Homer Phobos makes the son of Ares, is to assume that Homer was also Deimos son of Ares. For Hesiod are both sons of Ares and Aphrodite, which he calls Kythereia.
After the companions of Ares, the equivalent in Roman mythology, the god Mars, the moons of Mars, Phobos and Deimos, were named.
