Dekasegi

Dekasegi (Japanese出稼ぎ), derived from the Brazilian Portuguese also Dekassegui, is a term in the Japanese language for people who originally came from South America and settled in Japan. The word is more or less "remote work from home " translated, it consists of the parts deru (出る, " exit " ) and kasegu (稼ぐ, means " work "). The term is used especially for the large number of Brazilian and Peruanischstämmigen in Japan.

The late eighties there was a large wave of emigration from Brazil, mainly due to the strong hyperinflation, including to Japan. It is estimated that approximately 275,000 Brazilian " Dekasegi " live in Japan and making it the third largest group of immigrants in Japan filters ( after Chinese and Koreans ).

Due to the current economic and financial crisis, many Brazilian " Dekasegi " have lost their jobs. Therefore, the Japanese government pays every South American migrants 300,000 yen (about 2,108 euros ) when he returns to South America. When returning each additional family member 200,000 yen to be paid extra. The migrants can not return to Japan later, even if the Japanese economy recovers. This sparked numerous protests in Japan.
