Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area

The Delaware Water Gap ( Delaware breakthrough ) is a recreational area (Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area ) on the east coast of the United States at the border between New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The Delaware River runs here through the North Extension of the Appalachians.

The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area is a frequently used in the wider area park for rafting, canoeing, swimming, hiking or fishing. Since the Delaware Water Gap has quite a large Schwarzbärpopulation, bear sightings are not uncommon.

With the Red Dot Trail, there is a challenging hiking trail of the National Park Service ( NPS short ) were seen on the summit of Mount Tammany, where extensive panoramic views of the whole area.

Location

The Delaware separates the northern Appalachians at the Delaware Water Gap in the Blue Mountains on the Pennsylvania side, and the Kittatinny Ridge in New Jersey. On the New Jersey side of Delaware Water Gap with Mount Tammany has its highest point in Worthington State Forest. In Pennsylvania 's Mount Minsi is the highest point of the Water Gap. Along the Delaware Water Gap leads the Appalachian Trail.

Interstate 80 leads for several miles along the Delaware Water Gap along directly to the and offers parking for hiking, canoeing and picnics.
