Delbert L. Stapley

Delbert Leon Stapley ( born December 11, 1896 in Mesa, Arizona Territory; † August 19, 1978 in Salt Lake City, Utah) was an apostle of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints and was from 1950 until his death in the College of the Twelve apostles at.

Life

Stapley grew up with eight siblings in the Arizona Territory. At the age of 18 years he was a missionary in the Southern States Mission in the southern part of the United States operates. During World War II he served in the Marine Corps. Later Stapley, who had married in January 1918 in the Salt Lake Temple worked in the hardware store of his father, he finally took over and enlarged. At the age of 25, he was elected to the Mesa City Council. From his marriage three children were born.

On October 5, 1950 Stapley of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints appointed by George Albert Smith to be an apostle, and thus became a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. On August 19, 1978 Stapley died near his home in Salt Lake City during a walk to heart failure.
