Delia, Sicily

Delia is a city in the province of Caltanissetta in the Italian region Sicily, with 4360 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Location and data

Delia is located 25 km southwest of Caltanissetta. The inhabitants mainly work in agriculture.

The neighboring municipalities are Caltanissetta, Canicattì (AG), Naro (AG) and Sommatino (CL).

History

The town was founded in 1622 by Giuseppe Lucchesi. The sulfur reduction has long been an important economic factor.
