Delio Onnis
Delio Onnis ( born March 24, 1948 in Giuliano di Roma ) is a former Argentine footballer. He is still with 299 top scorer of all time in the highest French League, Division 1 (now Ligue 1). (February 2013)
Playing career
Delio Onnis ' family emigrated, many of their countrymen to Argentina when he was still a child; there he acquired the Argentine citizenship, but also kept the Italian. The 1.80 m wide and best times 80 kg vast center forward, any attributes were always hanging piece, came in the course of the season 1971/72 to about Stade de Reims and immediately secured 22 goals for the French club that his best years already had this time behind him and took place at the end of season 15. After another year in the Champagne Onnis joined AS Monaco, where he played until 1980 - and hit the opponent's goal with the regularity of clockwork. In 1976 he rose to the Monegasque from the 2nd league to after the immediate resurgence of his only championship to celebrate in France in 15 years and also to contribute 29 goals. 1975 and 1980 he won the national top scorer in the D1, 1977 in D2, in his last season at Monaco also the French Cup.
However, the striker, who has played in his younger years at Gimnasia y Esgrima de La Plata in Argentina was, just as the equally highly successful in France Carlos Bianchi of coach Menotti for the 1978 World Cup in Argentina considered.
1980 obliged him Tours FC for a then-record transfer fee, and Delio Onnis was again in the three years top scorer. After his descent, he moved to the Côte d' Azur for SC Toulon, was once again top scorer and finished his playing career in 1986. 1987/88 he was responsible for his last team still one season as an assistant coach.
From 1992 to 1994 Onnis worked as a coach at FC Paris.
