Delitzsch (district)

The district Delitzsch was with the district Torgau- Oschatz to 2008, the northernmost district of the Free State of Saxony. Former neighboring districts were in the north of the Saxony-Anhalt counties Anhalt- Bitterfeld and Wittenberg, in the east of the district Torgau- Oschatz, in the southeastern Muldentalkreis, in the south the county-level city of Leipzig and the district Leipziger Land and in the west of Saxony-Anhalt Saalekreis.

History

The area of ​​the district originally belonged to the Elector of Saxony Kurkreis and in 1815 part of the Prussian Province of Saxony. 1816 there the Prussian district Delitzsch has been built, which existed until the GDR district reform in 1952, in its form and was then split into a circle and a circle Delitzsch hurry castle.

The circles Delitzsch and hurry castle existed 1952-1994 and were part of the East German district of Leipzig, from 1990 parts of the Free State of Saxony.

Due to the district reform on 1 August 1994, both circuits to the new district Delitzsch were combined, some parts of haste castle fell, however, to the district Torgau- Oschatz. On 1 January 1999, the cities Schkeuditz and diving Leipziger Land were added from the district. After the district reform in Saxony in 2008 on 1 August 2008, the district Delitzsch was dissolved and the area since heard about the new district Nordsachsen.
