Dellis Cay

Dellis Cay is a small island of the British overseas territory of the Turks and Caicos Islands. The approximately 227 hectares ( 560 acres) large island located in the northern part of the Caicos islands between Parrot Cay in the Northeast and Pine Cay and several other smaller islands in the southwest. Like the neighboring islands is also Dellis Cay a flat sand island without much vegetation.

Dellis Cay a long time, was undeveloped. 2005, however, the island from the Vienna-based company O Property Collection of the Austrian Cem Kinay was purchased. On the island are next to a luxury hotel of the Mandarin Oriental Group, a wellness center and a marina where many luxury villas renowned architects ( including David Chipperfield, Zaha Hadid, Kengo Kuma, Piero Lissoni ) to be built ( The Residences at Mandarin Oriental Dellis Cay ). Construction began on 20 June 2008, the completion of the first phase was planned for 2009, and the opening for mid- 2010. Early 2010, the company reported on insolvency, and the work was stopped. In early 2011, the project was scrapped due to financial problems.
