Delron Sebastian Buckley ( born December 7, 1977 in Durban ) is a South African football player who also has a German passport. Currently, he is in the Premier Soccer League at Maritzburg United.

Career

Club level

Delron Buckley began at the Butcherfille Rovers Durban with the football game. At age 17 he moved to VfL Bochum, whom he left in 2004 to go to Arminia Bielefeld. There he played an excellent season. After just one year, he joined on 1 July 2005 to Borussia Dortmund. There, however, he could not do justice to the claims and therefore was borrowed for the 2006/07 season at FC Basel. He played his club debut on 10 September 2006 with a 2-1 home win against FC Zurich at the St. Jakob - Park in front of 19'987 spectators. After the season of FC Basel did not use the option to buy, so Buckley returned to BVB, which he also regularly came into use in the following.

With Borussia Dortmund, he was on 19 April 2008 at the DFB Cup Final in Berlin, with the 1:2 lost the team against Bayern Munich. His first competitive goal for BVB scored Buckley on matchday 33 of the 2007/08 season in the away game against Arminia Bielefeld. There, he managed the interim compensation to 1:1. At the end of the winter break of the 2008 /09 Buckley joined for half a year to 1 FSV Mainz 05 He then worked for Anorthosis Famagusta in Cyprus, where, however, he received no more contract for the 2010/11 season. During the winter break 2010/11 Buckley signed a dated to the end of season contract with Karlsruher SC, he extended after the season for another year. After the descent with the Karlsruher SC from the 2nd Bundesliga 2011/12 Buckley left the club and signed in June 2012 a contract with Maritzburg United in South Africa.

National

For the South African national football team Buckley was active in the 1998 World Cup, at the 2002 World Cup and the African Cup of Nations 2004 Tunisia. In 2007 he was appointed to the test against Scotland after prolonged abstinence back to the South African national football team. For the Soccer World Cup 2010 in South Africa Buckley was not nominated. On November 14, 2012 Buckley came in the 0-1 defeat in the match against Zambia used.

Private

Delron Buckley is married and has three daughters (* 2004, * 2007, * 2011).
