Delta (Utah)

Delta is a small city in Millard County in the U.S. state of Utah. In the vicinity of the delta of the Sevier River flows.

Demography

At the time of the census in 2000 ( U.S. Census 2000), the town had 3,209 inhabitants on a land area of 8.2 km ². The average age was 27.7 years ( national U.S. average: 35.3 years ). The per capita income ( per capita income englisch ) amounted to (national average of the United States: 21,587 U.S. dollars) at 13,273 U.S. dollars. 13.0 % of residents were with their income below the poverty line ( national U.S. average: 12.4 %). Approximately 9.1% of city residents are of German descent.

Economy

Delta is the center of dairy farming. Near the city is located in the Cricket Mountains, a limestone factory, which is one of the ten largest limestone factories of the United States. Another important sector is a large power station that large parts of Los Angeles County in California supplied with electricity.
