DeltaHawk Engines Inc

DeltaHawk Engines, Inc. is a US-based company, which was founded in 1996 with the objective to develop a family of diesel engines for the aviation sector. It was the desire to develop a completely new engine for this tune to the needs of general aviation, as the adaptation of diesel engines in the automotive sector, such as often led to unexpected problems at Thielert Centurion.

To circumvent the need for a reduction gear or to already use proven propeller all DeltaHawk engines are designed so that the maximum power is already being delivered at a speed of 2700/min, so a similar speed as in the typical in this class Lycoming or Continental engines.

Currently DeltaHawk offers a 4- cylinder V- engine in the three performance levels 118 kW, 132 kW and 148 kW. Derived V6 or V8 engines with up to 330 kW are planned. As none of these so far engines certified to DeltaHawk engines are mainly used in experimental aircraft for which is very popular with home builders pattern of Van 's Aircraft so-called firewall forward kits are offered. For the 132 kW variant a certification process has been taken by FAA Part 33.
