Demetri Martin

Demetri Martin ( born May 25, 1973 in New York City, New York ) is an American comedian and actor.

Life

Childhood and youth

Demetri Martin, son of Dean H. Martin, a Greek Orthodox priest, and his wife Lillian Martin, a nutritionist, grew up in Toms River on the U.S. state of New Jersey. His family has also created a second financial foothold by had opened a restaurant in Beachwood (New Jersey).

After graduating from Yale University in 1995, Martin enrolled at New York University School of Law, to study law. A year before the regular end he broke, despite objections of his parents, his studies to make it stand-up comedy a try.

Career

2001 was the breakthrough for Martin when he was seen in Premium Blend, a program for young comedians on the specialty channel Comedy Central. With his own show If I. ... he won in 2003 in Edinburgh, Scotland Edinburgh Comedy Award. In 2008, he also with Important Things with Demetri Martin got his own show on Comedy Central.

Martin's career as an actor began in 2002 in a small supporting role in the comedy film Analyze This 2 on the side of Billy Crystal and Robert De Niro. Also a cameo appearance graduated from Martin 2008 in the comedy Paper Heart. However, his international breakthrough, he scored only in 2009, when he LGBT activists Elliot Tiber embodied in Taking Woodstock, directed by Ang Lee.
