Demetri Porphyrios

Demetri Porphyrios (Greek Dimitris Porfyrios Δημήτρης Πορφύριος, * 1949 ) is a Greek architect and director of Porphyrios Associates. He is a professor at the Yale School of Architecture.

Work

Although by training an architect of the modern age ( he wrote a dissertation on Alvar Aalto ), Porphyry occurs for a historicist architecture in the tradition of the ancient builders. His buildings are attributable to the Neo-Gothic and neo-classicism. He worked at publications together with the post- modern architect Léon Krier.

His projects are mainly in Greece and the United Kingdom. In Germany he has built in Berlin and Frankfurt (Hotel Villa Kennedy).
