Democratic Party – demokraci.pl

The partia Demokratyczna - demokraci.pl (German Democratic Party, PD ) is a left-liberal political party in Poland. She went in 2005 from the Unia Wolności ( Freedom Union - UW) show that in 1993 from a merger of the Unia Demokratyczna (Democratic Union - UD ) - was created and the Congress Liberalno - Demokratyczny ( KLD Liberal - Democratic Congress ).

History

Early 2005, the Unia Wolności in partia Demokratyczna was - demokraci.pl (German Democratic Party) converted. The new PD sat as the only political party in Poland against the holding of the Government Leszek Miller on the Treaty of Nice, and stood for the rapid ratification of the EU Constitutional Treaty.

2006, the PD concluded with the social democratic parties SLD and SdPL and left working Union ( Unia Pracy, UP) to the political alliance Left and Democrats ( LiD ) together. Thanks to this alliance, the PD received after the 2007 General Election three parliamentary seats in the Sejm. After 29 March 2008 Wojciech Olejniczak the end of the SLD collaboration with the PD announced as part of the LiD and the SdPL itself seceded from the LiD 19 April 2008, it signaled the de facto end of the LiD and was on April 22 the Group in the Sejm formally dissolved. In response, the PD founded the so-called Democratic deputies circle.

From February 2009 to June of the same year the PD worked with the Socialist SdPL and the Polish countryside (Polish Zieloni 2004) in the choice initiative agreement for the future ( pln Porozumienie dla Przyszłości - Centro Lewica, short PdP ) together, a kind of middle - left coalition. This was to collect a higher chance of a re- entry into the European Parliament. The expectations were not achieved, so that the PD in 2009 retired from the European Parliament in the European elections in Poland. The PD is a member of the Liberal Party ALDE Europe.
