Democratic Party of Côte d'Ivoire – African Democratic Rally

The Parti Démocratique de Côte d' Ivoire ( German Democratic Party of the Ivory Coast, abbreviation PDCI ) is a political party of Ivory Coast.

It was founded on April 9, 1946 and was a member of the Rassemblement Démocratique Africain. From her profile here it is moderately conservative and attributable to the center right.

History

After independence, the Ivory Coast it was in the years 1960-1990 under its chairman Félix Houphouët-Boigny, the Unity Party in the country. After the first multi-party election in 1990 the party initially remained in power. Houphouët -Boigny died in 1993 and Henri Konan Bédié became his successor. She lost the hegemony after a heated election campaign and numerous legal battles finally consequence of the military coup led by General Robert Guei.

From the 2000 parliamentary elections, the PDCI was the strongest party with 94 seats in parliament out.
