Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste Party

The Partido Republica Democrática de Timor PDRT (Democratic Republican Party of Timor, different spelling: Partido Democratika Republica de Timor) is a party in East Timor.

Members

Party Chairman is Gabriel Fernandes. Secretary-General in 2011 was still belonging Osorio Lequi also to guide the religious group Colimau 2000. In July 2012, he held this office no longer held.

History

The party was founded on 15 September 2004 and registered with the Ministry of Justice on 8 November 2005.

With the unrest in East Timor 2006 Members of the PDRT were involved, including the Secretary-General Lequi. Together with a mob of young people, they attacked on April 28, 2006 at police and rioted. Party members were part of the group 594, which consisted of family members and supporters of the then rebel soldiers under Alfredo Reinado.

In the parliamentary elections on 30 June 2007, the PDRT was 1.86% ( 7,718 ) of the valid votes and thus failed at the three- percent threshold. Most support they received in the district Bobonaro, where she received 2,258 votes ( 5.9%).

In July 2007, the PDRT joined with five other parties, who had also failed in the parliamentary elections at the three- percent threshold together to League Democrática Progressiva LDP. The LDP is intended for very different ideological and program participants as a political platform outside parliament.

In the parliamentary elections of 2012 PDRT joined with the Partidu Liberta Povu Aileba ( PLPA ) in a joint electoral list, the Coligação PLPA / PDRT called. But the coalition failed with only 4,012 votes (0.85 %) at the three- percent threshold. The best result they achieved in the district Bobonaro with 2.61 % of votes.
