Democratic Voice of Burma

The Democratic Voice of Burma ( DVB; German: Democratic Voice of Burma ) is a non -profit organization in the field of mass media, which is located in Oslo, Norway. Run by Burmese expatriates, radio and television broadcasts are transmitted, with the aim of uncensored news and information about Myanmar ( Burma), there provide the ruling military regime and its political opposition.

Transfers

Since July 1992 DVB transmits his radio program to Myanmar. These broadcasts reach millions of listeners, according to DVB. Since March 2010, the organization will send two hours of programming daily on shortwave radio from 06:00 bis 07:00 clock local time ( 23:30 to 00:30 UTC ) on the frequency 9490 kHz and 21:00 and bis 22:00 clock local time ( 14:30 to 15:30 UTC) on 15480 kHz and 17625 kHz.

On May 28, 2005 DVB has expanded the program and began television broadcasts via satellite, which can be received in Myanmar. The organization hopes so several 10 million viewers in Myanmar to achieve. The TV channel is the first free and independent channel in Burmese language and becomes part of non-governmental organizations like Free Voice (Netherlands), National Endowment for Democracy (USA) and Fritt Ord ( Norway) financed.

Mission

The DVB has defined four main objectives:

  • The provision of accurate and unbiased news for the people of Myanmar
  • Promoting understanding and cooperation between the different ethnic and religious groups in Myanmar
  • To support and strengthen the independent public opinion and the facilitation of social and political conflicts
  • The transmission of democratic ideals and human rights for the people of Myanmar
