Dempo SC

Dempo Sports Club is an Indian football club in Goa. Currently, he plays in the Indian Football League, the I-League.

History

It was founded in 1961 under the name of Clube Desportivo de Bicholim. In 1966 he was named after the main sponsor Dempo - Souza. After another name change in 1968, the club received its present name. Besides Salgaocar Sports Club and Sporting Clube de Goa, he is one of the most popular clubs in Goa. In 2005, he was able to get the Indian Double, winning both the championship and the cup final. Dempo also won the last championship of the old league format in the National Football League, and a year later the first championship of the new I-League. Due to the Championship 2007/ 08 the club took part in the qualification for the AFC Champions League 2009. Against Al- Sharjah, however you had no chance with 0:3 and was downgraded in the AFC Cup. After 4 days of play group stage we had a very good chance to move into the next round. The biggest success was the semi-finals of the AFC Cup 2008.

The Championship 2008/ 09, which ended on 16 April 2009, it was concluded from this time at # 4. The Championship 2009/10 we completed a master. The Championship 2010/11 they finished in 4th place from 6 points behind the first. With Championship 2011/12 they won the third championship title.

Stadium

The Fatorda Stadium is a multi-purpose arena in Margao in Goa with a capacity of 35,000 spectators.
