The yolk is a 205 hectare nature reserve on the part of communities Aaigem (municipality Erpe -Mere ) and Heldergem ( Haaltert municipality ) in the East Flemish Denderstreek. It is a marshy, almost uninhabited area that is traversed by the stream Molenbeek- Ter Erpenbeek, renowned for its numerous mills ( Molens ) is known.

Path network

By The yolk run numerous hiking and biking trails. The trail begins the yolk to the Church of Aaigem. The route is 10 km long and ends in the district Gotegem. A creek meanders through the nature reserve, where there is a diverse flora with over 300 species of plants. On paved trails hikers can traverse the area.

The park management is primarily concerned with the clearing and planting of trees, good drainage and mowing the meadows with the growing everywhere marsh marigolds. The marsh marigold ( Dutch: dotterbloem ) was the namesake for the nature reserve.
