Denis Geppert

Denis Geppert ( born January 24, 1976 in Lichtenstein / Sa. ) Is a former German luger.

Denis Geppert from WSC Erzgebirge Oberwiesenthal operating the sport of luge since 1985. Highlight of his career was his participation in the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City, where he reached the seventh place. At the World Championships, he took up four times: 1999 ( 7 ) 2000 ( 5 ) 2001 ( 6 ) and 2003 ( 10 ). In addition, two appearances coming at European Championships: 2000, he was fifth, in 2002 he reached the greatest success of his career, winning the silver medal.

His most successful years in the World Cup in 2003 /04 with a seventh place in the overall World Cup and 2005/ 06 ( 8 ). In German Championships Sports soldier reached also multiple top positions. 2002 and 2006 he was runner-up, 2001 and 2005 third. At the 2006 Olympic Games in Turin Geppert could not qualify. After that, his future career was not particularly successful. Despite his runner-up title to Geppert could no longer qualify for the World Cup team. That's why he ended his active career in the fall of 2006.
