Denis Kudla

Denis Kudla ( born August 17, 1992, Kiev) is an American tennis player with Ukrainian roots.

Career

Denis Kudla, son of an architect and a housewife, began at the age of 7 years with the tennis games. He went to a university in Burke where he was coached by tennis coach Frank Salazar. At the age of 13 he moved to Arlington County where he still lives and trains. At the Washington - Lee High School, he was able to pursue his hobby every day, so there was no time for a normal college. He was home schooled from the ninth grade from a private tutor. At age 16, he wanted to but at the University of Southern California ultimately opted against it in order to concentrate on tennis. In 2009, he won the title at the Orange Bowl, one of the most important junior tournaments in the world. In 2010, he stood at the Junior U.S. Open in the finals, but ultimately his compatriot Jack Sock had to concede defeat. At the end of that year he was in third position the junior world rankings. He was also part of the 2010 Davis Cup team, which was eliminated in the first round to eventual winners Serbia 2:3.

The year 2011

In the 2011 season Kudla took part in 12 Challenger and Futures tournaments 7. His best result in these classes was at the USA F25 where he secured victory against Dennis Lajola. On the ATP World Tour he participated, among others, the qualifications of the U.S. Open and the Indian Wells Masters. He managed, however, in both tournaments not in the main draw. Other tournaments he played in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Newport, Eastbourne, London and Houston (all 250 tournaments). This only resulted in the tournament in Newport a respectable result, where he was able to advance to the quarter-finals and there defeated his fellow countryman Michael Yani 3:6, 7:65, 5:7. At the end of the year he finished second in the world rankings to 276th place, which was his best classification up to this point.

The year 2012

The 2012 season began with the ATP Auckland, where he joined the local Artem Sitak was defeated in the first qualifying round. This was followed by the Australian Open, where he was able to qualify through three qualifying rounds for the main draw. In the first round, however, the tournament was over after he lost to German Tommy Haas in four sets with 6:75, 6:3, 0:6, 5:7. We went with a Challenger tournament in Honolulu in which he could advance to the quarter- finals and had to settle there beaten the Japanese Tatsuma Ito. Also next Challenger tournament in Dallas he made it to the quarter-finals, but had to go back as losers from the square. He could through a wild card at the ATP tournament to participate in San Jose and stood by the first round. In the second round he got to do with his compatriot Andy Roddick, with which he could keep up for long stretches. Last Dende did not succeed in the sensation and was eliminated with a 7:65, 6:75, 4:6 from. When ATP tournament in Memphis he left already in the 2nd qualifying round against Robert Kendrick. A week later, he retired again already in the first round out of ATP Delray Beach Dudi Sela against 4:6, 3:6. When ATP 1000 tournament in Indian Wells, he survived the first round, and met in the second round to Roger Federer. It was the first encounter between the two on the professional tour. Roger Federer won the match clearly with 6:4, 6:1. For the Masters 1000 tournament in Miami, he received a wild card by the tournament and met in the first round to Antonio Veic, who qualified through the qualifying rounds for the tournament. He was defeated by Croats in three sets and was eliminated from the tournament. In the next four Challenger Tournaments his best result was a quarter finals at the Sarasota Open, where he defeated his compatriot James Blake in three sets. Qualifying for the French Open, he missed by a two- set defeat against Eduardo Schwank. During this second Challenger tournament in Nottingham he did not make it beyond the first round. He defeated Marinko Matosevic the Australian in straight sets 4:6 and 6:74.
