Denis Ovens

Denis Ovens ( born July 1, 1957 in Enfield ) is an English darts player, who is currently in the PDC under contract. His nickname is " The Heat " and his theme song is The Heat Is On by Glenn Frey. On the tour, he is considered one of the most consistent players, but it was not possible to achieve greater success in television tournaments, which gave him the nickname The Nearly Man earned him.

Career

In the PDC World Championship 2001 Ovens difference in the first round against Les Fitton. Similarly, early he lost in 2002, when he lost in the second round against Richie Burnett. The two knockout defeats in 2003 and PDC World Darts Championship 2004, followed in 2005 his best performance at a World Cup when he first lost in the second round with 3:5 against Mark Dudbrigde. Previously, he was able to defeat Mark Holden 4-1 Roland Scholten 4-2. Following the World Cup, he lost six times in a row in the second round: 2006 vs. Steve Alker (1:4 ), 2007 against Alan Tabern ( 3:4 ), 2008 against Jan van der Rassel (1:4 ), 2009 against Ronnie Baxter (1:4 ), 2010 against Colin Lloyd ( 3:4 ) and finally in 2011 against Simon Whitlock ( 0:4 ). Also at the World Championships in 2012, he retired in the first round ( task by 0-1 against Kevin Münch ) and 2013 he resigned after a 3-2 win over Max Hopp again against in the second round of (1:4 Adrian Lewis).

In the PDC UK Open Ovens reached the semifinals (2010-2012) three times in a row.

Private

Away from the darts Ovens is a big fan of Manchester United. He has a season ticket and visited every game if he does not play darts.
