They renounced in favor of a movie career on her starring role in the television series Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Denise Crosby quickly lost interest in their role in Star Trek, as they appeared to her to be superficial. According to their own statements, Star Trek was also not complex enough. There would not, as in other series of plots but the result turned always only to the captain and everything else would be written about him. However, they did not only stand on the bridge. Your character Tasha Yar died therefore already in the 23rd episode ( Skin of Evil ) of the first season the Serientod. Gene Roddenberry personally decided that a senseless death would be the best possible fit to a security chief. Rick Berman did they then no longer treated well by its own account on the last day of shooting, he had pulled her like a demotion to the communicator of the uniform. A conspiracy theory to Crosby's exit means that there photos would have played a major role in Playboy. However, the facts speak against this presumably set of fans in the world rumor. The photos in question were published as early as 1979, ie nine years before Star Trek: The Next Generation had premiere. 1988 these images were then retrieved from Playboy from the archive and published on the occasion of the new Star Trek series again. When the book appeared, however, most members of the TNG production team already knew that Crosby wanted to go. Only after her dismissal noticed Crosby that you may still lay on the role more than they had first thought. For this reason they had in later seasons several guest appearances when Tasha Yar could occur again in time travel episodes, or caused by a time paradox halbromulanische daughter Shelah was playing. 1997, has since become a Star Trek fan Denise Crosby produced the documentary Trekkies, who portrayed the "phenomenon Star Trek " and some of his enthusiastic fans.
