Geography

Geographical location

Denkingen lies on a road ratio between the Great Heuberg and Baar at the foot of Klippenecks. The municipal area extends from 610 meters above sea level. NN in Primtal up to 1002 meters high Hummelberg.

Neighboring communities

The municipality is bordered to the north by Gosheim, to the east by Böttingen, in the south on the town Spaichingen and to the west by Aldingen and Frittlingen.

Community structure

The municipality includes the village Denkingen Denkingen and the houses Erlenmühle and Klippeneck. Within the area are the disposed villages Berghof, Hinterhausen, Ipspoche, Niederhofen and Riedheim.

History

The relatively flat terrain between the Primtal and the steep slopes of the Swabian Alb was inhabited early on. Romans and Alemanni settled here, as archaeological finds and burial evidence.

Denkingen was first documented on 10 October 818 in a deed of a certain Theotmar of land in the village Thanchinga to his and his wife's salvation to the monastery of St. Gall. Various spiritual and secular dignitaries had owned the place. 1381 came to the village of Further Austria and remained there until it became part of Württemberg in 1805.

Policy

The municipal council of the municipality Denkingen consists of twelve members. Parties are not represented in Denkinger council. Since 1983, Rudolf Wuhrer is the mayor of the municipality. The municipality is a member of the agreed administrative community of the city Spaichingen.

Partnerships

Denkingen maintains partnership relations with Kirschau in Upper Lusatia in Saxony.

Culture and sights

The municipality is the Tourist " Donaubergland " connected.

  • The route of the by Denkingen running, 1966 disused railway Heuberg is now developed as a hiking and biking trail. It provides a low- gradient ascent to Gosheim with many vantage points along the escarpment Heuberg.
  • The Segelfluggelände Klippeneck and the trail along the edge of the slope to Dreifaltigkeitsberg offer in good visibility magnificent views over the countryside to the Black Forest Baar and to the Alps.
  • On the steep slopes of Klippenecks there are some closed forests of yew.

Denkingen was until 1966 at the now dismantled railway Heuberg. Today, the bus number 43 to Aldingen where Ringzug connection to Rottweil and Tuttlingen prevails. Denkingen is also on the L 433 - 5907 to reach ( Frittlingen / Rottweil / Wellendingen / Balingen ) or K ( Spaichingen / Aldingen Gosheim / Wehingen / Balingen ).

  • The company Paul Kauth KG has approximately 180 employees, is one of the largest employers in Denkingen and is a supplier to the automotive industry.
