Dennis Chambers

Dennis Chambers ( born May 9, 1959) is an American drummer who played with John Scofield, Steely Dan, Santana, Mike Stern, the Brecker Brothers, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Parliament / Funkadelic, John McLaughlin and many others and produced records. Although he never received any formal training, Chambers has been a world-renowned Jazz-/Fusion-Schlagzeuger and is known for his accurate, powerful technique.

Age of four Chambers started playing drums, and already six he joined the Baltimore area in nightclubs. According to his own statements, he practiced on pillows, only " sound " from a certain clout that, as well as on a reversed built drum set, which makes it now very flexible. In 1978 he came to George Clinton's P- funk band Parliament / Funkadelic and played with them until 1985. Since then he has played with almost all sizes of fusion music. It is worth mentioning especially the close long-standing partnership with John McLaughlin, who described him in an interview as his "brother in arms".

At Chambers' own group Niacin is one of bassist Billy Sheehan.
