Dennis Conner

Walter Dennis Conner ( born September 16, 1942 in San Diego, California ) is a professional sailors in North America. Because of its many successes in the America's Cup ( AC) it is also called Mister America's Cup.

From 1974 to 2003 Dennis Conner has participated in each AC as skipper. Since 1987, he joined with their vessels under the name of Stars & Stripes, named after the nickname of the American national flag stars and stripes on. He is the only tax man in the world who has lost the America 's Cup (1983) and then won back (1987). Conner is also the only skipper who lost the America 's Cup twice (1983 and 1995). He has won a total of 17 AC - race and a four-time winner (1974, 1980, 1987, 1988 ).
