Dennis Franz

Dennis Franz ( born October 28, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois as Dennis Franz gentry ) is an American actor in theater, film and television.

Life and career

The son of a German immigrant grew up in a suburb of Chicago in simple ratios. His original career choice was a postman. In the 11th grade Franz spoke to his girlfriend 's sake for the lead role in a school play, which he also got immediately. Because of this, he decided to become an actor.

After high school he studied from 1962 at the Southern Illinois University Carbondale and earned a degree in theater specialist. A short time later, Francis was drafted by the military and was eleven months stationed in Vietnam. His experiences in the war cause him to this day depression and nightmares.

After his return to the United States in 1972, he joined the Organic Theatre Company at. When an audition he was discovered by Robert Altman, who persuaded him to move to Los Angeles.

Franz is often cast as a policeman. He played this role, among others, in Dressed to Kill, Chicago Story, Deadly Messages, The Package, Nasty Boys, Die Hard 2 and also in the two television series, which helped him to break through: Hill Street Blues and New York Cops - NYPD Blue. For the latter, he was even more honored with the Emmy for best actor.

In 1998, he earned for the presentation of the angel Nathaniel Messinger in City of Angels much critical acclaim.

Dennis Franz is married since 1995 with Joanie Zeck, with whom he has two children ( Tricia and Krista ).
