Dennis Gansel

Dennis Gansel ( born October 4, 1973 in Hannover ) is a German film director and screenwriter.

Life and work

During his school years Gansel attended from 1987 to 1993 the Tellkampfschule in Hanover, where he graduated with the Abitur. From 1993 to 1995 he did his community service. From 1994 until 2000 he studied with his longtime producer colleague and friend Christian Studies - Becker at the University of Television and Film Munich.

His first film was the short film The Wrong trip from the year 1995. His first feature film directed Gansel 1999 The Phantom, a RAF - political thriller with Jürgen Vogel as investigators in the lead role. The film was broadcast on television in May 2000 and found not only an enormous press coverage, but also won three Adolf Grimme prices. His film debut was in 2001 with Dennis Gansel girl, girl.

In 2008, his film was The Wave, he also realized again with his producer Becker, the German cinema. On August 8, 2012 Universal Pictures announced that Gansel will make his U.S. debut and will be directing the horror film Grim Night.
