Dennis Lillee

Dennis Keith Lillee MBE ( born July 18, 1949 in Subiaco, Western Australia ) is a former Australian cricketer. He is considered one of the best bowler in the history of Australian cricket. In 1973 he was elected one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the Year. In 2000 he was elected by the Australian Cricket Board in the Australian Team of the Century.

Career

Dennis Lillee took during his career for Australia participated in 70 test matches where he reached a total of 355 wickets. He had his first test race in 1971 against England at Adelaide. In a test against the West Indies team, he scored on December 27, 1981 its 310th Testwicket, breaking the record held by Lance Gibbs. Its last use in a test had Dennis Lillee in January 1984 in Sydney against Pakistan. In addition, he played 63 One- Day International cricket matches ( ODIs ) for Australia, where he scored a total of 103 wickets. He was the first cricketer ever, who managed 100 wickets in ODIs achieve. With the Australian team Lillee also adopted two Cricket World Cups (1975 and 1983).

Honors and Other

Dennis Lillee in 1981 was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire. In December 2009, he was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame. Even after the end of his career he has remained connected to the cricket. In 2004 he was elected President of the Western Australian Cricket Association.
