Dennis Turner, Baron Bilston

Dennis Turner, Baron Bilston ( born August 26, 1942 in Bilston, West Midlands, February 25 † 2014) was a British politician ( Labour and Co-operative ).

Biography

Turner, son of Thomas Herbert Turner and Mary Elizabeth Peasley, visited the Stonefield Secondary Modern School and the Bilston College of Education.

Turner was from 1966 to 1986 member of the Wolverhampton Borough Council, which from 1980 to 1986 as Deputy Chairman. From 1973 to 1986 he was at the same time also the West Midlands County Council. From 1987 to 2005 he was a member of the House of Commons for Wolverhampton South East. From 1991 to 1993 he was chairman of the Co-operative Party Parliamentary Group. From 1992 to 1997 he was Whip of the opposition. Also in 1997 he was Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS ) for the Development Minister, first to 2003 for Clare Short, 2003 Valerie Amos. Since 2000 he was treasurer of the Lopus Group.

2005 Turner Life peer as Baron Bilston, Bilston in the County of West Midlands of. In the same year he was also secretary of the non-profit making Members' Clubs Group. Since 2008 he was deputy chairman of the Markets Group and chairman of the Greyhound Group. He was a member of the British Humanist Association.

Family

He was married to Patricia Narroway since 1976. They have a son and a daughter.
