Densha de Go!

Densha de Go! (Japanese電車 でGo!, dt " By train " ) is a Japanese video game series. There is a train-simulation. The first part appeared in 1996 as an arcade game produced by Taito. Since the development Department of Taito has now been adopted by Square Enix, newer games come from Ongakukan.

Overview

Densha de Go! focuses exclusively on real Japanese trains and railways. Main focus is on major commuter routes and scenic branch lines. The goal is to drive as closely as possible at scheduled times, while complying with speed limits, and to bring the train point accurately to a stop. The latter is of great importance in Japan, because there are, especially in metropolitan areas on the platforms marks that indicate where the doors of the train are holding.

Unlike Railfan and Train Simulator, two other major Japanese game series with a similar concept, used Densha de Go! no video recordings that are played back according to the speed, but distance and environment are modeled. Densha de Go! is not an authentic simulation, but a largely reduced to simple acceleration and braking part of reality with arcade physics.

Versions

The series has been published since 1996 on almost every major console in Japan - whether home console or handheld. Nevertheless, marked Densha de Go! FINAL 2004 an endpoint, because any production of entirely new games has been set. There appear only ports and cell phone games. The only exception is the Nintendo DS game of 2010.

Densha de Go! controller

For home consoles, there are specific controllers to by levers, pedals and a corresponding design increase the level of realism and fun to the game.
