Dental assistant

A Dental professional employee ( ZFA ) has to assist the task of the dentist in the treatment of patients and in practice organization. In Switzerland, is the job title Dental Assistant. Approx. 99% of dental assistants are women, which is why often the female form dental assistants will be used.

Germany

In the year 2011 10.834 new training contracts were concluded in Germany. In 2012 there was an increase recorded on 12,330 new training contracts ( 4.11 %). In the ranking of occupations according to new contracts in Germany the education profession is thus on Rank 14

The number of male trainees for dental assistants ( ZFA ) increases. In the period from 2000 to 2011, the number of male trainees has quadrupled. The proportion of women is 99.3 percent. In terms of popularity, the most popular occupations for young women in 2011 was the professional ranks 7, ( the medical assistants in contrast to Rank 4).

Vocational education of trainees

Basically no qualifying education for training is necessary. However, applicants with qualified secondary school or higher are preferred. With new training contracts ( 31 December 2011), the trainees had the following to the dental nurse training.

Training

The earlier name dental assistants / in was abolished with the adoption of the new profession in 2001.

The training is based on the Regulation on the professional training to / for dental assistants ( ZFA ). The skills are taught in a dual system of vocational school and in the dental office. The training period is three years, but can be shortened by up to one year. In Germany each basic dental practice has the right to education. In 2011, formed from approximately 41 % of dental practices.

2011 audit

In 2011, 9,678 trainees nationwide have participated in the final examination for dental assistants, of which 51 were male. 9,006 trainees ( 93.1 %) have passed the exam.

In 2000, there were 13,313 specimens, of which 12,200 ( 91.6 %) have passed the examination in comparison.

Training allowance

The training compensation varies from state to state. In some states, there are wage agreements for trainee dental nurse (Westfalen -Lippe, Saarland, Hesse, Berlin, Schleswig -Holstein, Lower Saxony and also based in Baden- Württemberg). There is compensation in the first year of training, € 615, € 660 in 2nd year and 3rd year of training € 714 (as of 2013). In comparison, the compensation for Animal Medical Assistant (TFA ) in the 1st year of training, € 500, € 556 in 2nd year and 3rd year of training € 612 (as of 2012). In medical assistants ( MFAs ), the training compensation by the example of North Rhine in the 1st year of training, € 610, € 650 in 2nd year and 3rd year of training € 700 (as of 2012).

€ 737 gross per month earned the 2012 average trainees in West Germany (average of 3 years of education ). In East Germany agreed training pay in 2012 rose by 5.0% to an average of € 674 a month. In 2011 she had been raised by 4.9 %. For the entire country negotiated pay on average in 2012 was 730 € per month. Were identified, while the average compensation for 184 occupations in West and 149 occupations in East Germany. In these occupations, 88% of trainees are trained.

Unemployment

At year-end 2011 6142 ZFAS were registered as unemployed, a decrease of 14% over the previous year and by 60 % compared to the year 2000.

There are different developments in terms of career advancement, depending on Dental Association:

  • Business Administrator for dental practice management
  • Dental hygienists ( DH)

In 2011, 785 successful tests to ZMP, 461 filed for CMV, 315 and 111 to the ZMF to DH before the dental associations.

In Bavaria, for example, the training to ZMF is carried out part-time and has to focus prevention / prophylaxis. The CMV is a periodic training in accounting and administration. More detailed information can be found at the Dental district branches.

In Westphalia -Lippe is offered in the healthcare business administration for management by the Dental Chamber optional training.

In North Rhine offered by the Dental Chamber optional training for assistant dental practice management (BAT ).

Remuneration

In Germany, the level of remuneration of dental assistants between employer and employee is freely negotiated. In some states ( Hesse, Hamburg, Saarland, Westphalia -Lippe ), there is a collective pay agreement, which, however, is not binding, but may represent a guideline. Salaries are based on there after the number of years of employment and the amount of training measures which the Dental has achieved professional employees.

The salary compensation under this collective agreement starts at 1602, - € for the first three years of employment and, depending on work experience and training up to 2517, - € rise. In addition, where appropriate, additional voluntary payments, such as Christmas or holiday money saving schemes and other social benefits. The content may be determined by supply and demand and the corresponding qualification. In cities with a smaller range of dental assistants ' salaries are higher than the collective agreements so provide.

Professional Association

Dental assistants are members of the Professional Association for Health Services and Welfare. The statutory accident insurance is a branch of the German social security system. Switzerland

In Switzerland, is called the Basic vocational training dental assistant or dental assistant EFZ. The training lasts three years.
