Dentsply International is an American manufacturer of dental products. The company, founded in 1899 is the largest manufacturer of dental products in the world. Dentsply has offices in 22 countries and sells its products in over 100 countries.

The seat of Dentsply Dentistry Germany ( Dentsply De Trey GmbH ) is located in Konstanz. The location of the dental technical products ( DeguDent ) is located in Hanau.

Dentsply manufactures dentures, dental fillings and dental implants and sells various other products of the dentist needs such as syringes, anesthetics or lead aprons. The company is the second largest amalgam manufacturers in the United States.

History

The history of the denture goes back to the year 1820. At that time, a family of silversmiths in London was asked to make by a dentist dentures. About 70 years later developed a Swiss dentist the first usable gold filling. This period also saw the establishment of Dentsply falls. 1899 came four business people around together (Jacob F. Frantz, MD, Dean C. Osborne, George H. Whiteley, John R. Sheppard ) in the business with dentures enter. In the meantime, Dentsply has grown massively. In 1976, Dentsply of the Amalgamated Dental Co. Ltd. the DeTrey AG in Zurich. Research and production were moved to Konstanz 1985. 1999 Dentsply acquired the medical wing of FrIAteC, Friadent. In 2001, Dentsply took over the dental group of Degussa AG for 576 million euros and thus became one of the largest manufacturers of dental products.
