Deolinda

Deolinda [ diulĩdɐ ] is a popular Portuguese music group that acts influenced by fado and its traditional origins.

History

The musical project started in 2006, when Pedro da Silva Martins brothers Luís José Martins and her cousin Ana Bacalhau, who was then lead singer of the group Lupanar, offered to sing four of their composed songs. When they realized that the voice of the cousin fits perfectly with the lyrics and the melody, they also have José Pedro Leitão, the bassist of Lupanar (now husband of Ana Bacalhau ), invited to join the project, and Deolinda was founded.

The song Contado Ninguém ACREDITA (Eng. No one believes me) was in the compilation Novos Talentos (Eng. New Talent ) (2007 ) recorded that was produced and distributed by the FNAC.

( Dt: Song from next door ) On 21 April 2008, the debut album Canção ao Lado was released and reached the end of October 2008 with the third place in the official charts of the Associação Portuguesa Fonográfica his best finish in Portugal. Together with a re-entry into the charts and two placings before has it been so represented a total of four weeks in the charts.

In October 2008, the album reached gold status in December it went platinum, and in 2009 it reached double platinum, which means selling more than 40,000 units.

On 2 March 2009, the European marketing of the album Canção ao Lado by distributors World Connection began. In April 2009, it reached number 8 in the World Music Charts Europe and in May it rose to # 4 on the same charts.

Also in April 2009, the group started their first European tour. They played in several countries, such as Holland, Germany and Switzerland, to return to Portugal several concerts in cities such as Porto, Braga and Barcelos.

The album Canção ao Lado was chosen in a survey of the radio station Antena 3 in 10th place, the listener leaderboard. The survey was conducted by the transmitter in April 2009, was asked in for the best Portuguese album in the years 1994 to 2009. It could be chosen from a list of 100 proposals.

On 23 April 2010, the band debuted their new album titled Dois Selos e To Carimbo (Eng. Two stamps and a stamp ), whose only single, the song order contra o outro (Eng. one against the other ) was .. The second album reached No. 1 on the directly Portuguese album charts and was awarded in November 2010 with platinum.

The song Parva que Sou (Eng. How stupid I am), which was played in January 2011 in four concerts at Coliseu dos Recreios in Lisbon and Porto for the first time, immediately became the anthem of a generation.

Honors and Awards

On 17 May 2009, the group won in the category "Best Newcomer of the Year" in the XIV Gala a Globo de Ouro. The four artists have won in the group of artists or groups who in 2008 released their first album, and arrayed against groups such as Classificados, Per7ume and Rita Redshoes. At the same time they were " Best Group " nominated in the gala in the category, along with Da Weasel, Mesa and the winner of Buraka Som Sistema.

In 2011 she won the Globo de Ouro again, this time for Best Group of the Year.
