Deon Meyer

Deon Meyer ( born July 4, 1958 in Paarl, Cape Province ) is a South African writer.

The age of 14 he wrote his first novel, which was, however, already savaged by his brothers. After his military service and studies at the University of Potchefstroom, he worked as a reporter for " The Volksblad ", a daily newspaper in Bloemfontein. Then followed as a copywriter, creative director, consultant and Internet marketing. Regardless, he continued to write and could use some short stories published in South African newspapers.

In 1994 his first novel in his native language Afrikaans, but not yet brought it to a translation. Nevertheless, Meyer wrote, unlike many other South African authors continue only in Afrikaans and not in English. He is now the most successful thriller writer in South Africa, known internationally and is also regarded as " South Africa Henning Mankell ."

He lives with his wife and four children in Melkbosstrand in the City of Cape Town Metropolitan Municipality.
