Department of Transport and Main Roads

The Department of Transport and Main Roads is an agency of the Government of Queensland. She is responsible for the road network in Queensland with a total length of over 33,000 km, with a total of 6,500 bridges. The Department was established in April 2009 as the earlier authorities Queensland Transport and the Department of Main Roads have been merged.

In total, more than 10,000 people are employed by the Authority. In addition to the road transport authority is also responsible for the shipping lanes and rail transport. She works closely with Queensland Rail, port authorities, Translink and other regional as well as federal agencies, but also the industry and communities.

The Department of Transport and Main Roads is divided into five section: strategy and planning, investment and program development, road safety, operating and industry collaborations. Maritime Safety Queensland is one of the authority in charge of the waterways of Queensland.
