Departments of the Republic of the Congo

The Republic of Congo is divided into twelve departments since 2003. The department replaced in 2002 the then existing regions:

• Bouenza ( Madingou )
• Brazzaville ( Brazzaville)
• Cuvette ( Owando )
• Cuvette -Ouest ( Ewo )
• Kouilou ( Pointe -Noire )
• Lékoumou ( Sibiti )
• Likouala ( Impfondo )
• Niari ( Loubomo )
• Plateau ( Djambala )
• Pointe- Noire ( Pointe -Noire )
• Pool ( Kinkala )
• Sangha ( Ouesso )

The departments are further divided into 86 districts and seven municipalities.
