Der Fischer Weltalmanach

The Fischer World Almanac is a yearbook, which is published every year since the end of 1959 from Fischer paperback publishing in September.

The Fischer World Almanac provides facts, facts and figures from politics, economy, environment, sports and culture. The yearbook contains a part of States in which all states of the world are listed. There can be found on each country information, including to area and population ( respectively the world ranking also listed ) as well as official language (s ), gross domestic product, currency and embassies of the country. The World Almanac also contains additional information on the structure of the country, population, state and government, government and political parties as well as economy. In each country there is a chronicle that reflects the events in the reporting period.

The information on Germany, Austria and Switzerland are more extensive: Here, each state or each canton is presented in more detail and published a comprehensive chronicle and other statistics. In Germany part there is also a double page which introduces the major cities with area, information about the population (number of inhabitants, inhabitants per km ², change within 10 years, in%), rank and with (upper ) mayor.

Following the list of states comparison tables follow with basic data on all 195 States, map and flag overviews, international organizations and the European Union as well as information on the economy, environment and culture. In addition, the FWA contains biographies of famous personalities as well as information about the deceased person.

Since the 2005 edition, there is the annual chronicle, in which the main events will be presented during the reporting period as a result of absorption of the Philips Annual Chronicle in the publication. The subject of sports came in 2005, thus new to the world almanac: where all major sporting events and results are recorded. Since 2005, the World Almanac will appear in full color.

The World Almanac is also available with a CD- ROM that provides additional data, maps and photos, as well as extensive research and linking options.

Fischer World Almanac states encyclopedia

The Fischer World Almanac States lexicon has been available since December 2006. It conveys in chronological tables and portraits of important background knowledge about politics, history and economy of all 195 countries in the world. It also fulfills the function of atlases, because it contains a colored card to every state and many areas. Because of the timelines of history of the states it is a supplement to the fishing world almanac.

Fischer World Almanac date

Since March 2005, the book series Fischer World Almanac appears to date that has been developed in conjunction with the weekly newspaper ZEIT and contains reports, analysis and figures on the most important issues of the year. Have been published are volumes on EU enlargement, a powder keg Iraq to the United States, Russia and the Caucasus, as a world power China and as the last band to Africa.

Fischer World Almanac Sonderband DDR

So far a unique case in the fishing world Almanaches series was the short-term publication of a supplementary special band, especially the special band GDR in April 1990. He had become necessary because the of in the regular World Almanac of 1990, Facts and figures about the GDR shown at the time appearance were already overtaken by the dramatic changes and an updated analysis and assessment of the events was required.

In addition to the chronicle of events between September 1989 and March 1990, documents the turn of time, together possible scenarios of a union of the former two German states as well as short biographies of political figures of the GDR, which were at this time in light of the public in this volume.
