Der fließende Fels

The current flowing rock is a semi- documentary TV series ( BRD, 1989) on the subject of concrete and cement and their genesis. Six episodes were filmed with Peter Ustinov in the lead role.

For the series of action

At the time of the great eruption of Vesuvius, went down at the Pompeii and sank into ash and slag masses woke up the next day, an old Roman (Peter Ustinov ) and had stuck his legs to his horror in a strange, that has been totally fixed "stone" puddle. It was with difficulty he got free the feet from the hard slag. From this key scene in an action takes its course, which originates from ancient times and traces the historical discovery and development of modern building materials to modern times.

Developing a cult series

The current flowing rock is still used as a teaching film in public educational institutions ( in the movie abridged form ). Away from the doctrinal aspects of the six original episodes developed but mainly by the Ustinov scene with their feet in concrete ( which was repeated at the top of the other five episodes each time full length ) into a veritable small cult series around which become an even not smaller fan base has formed. The series is there now on video and DVD, both in the shortened film version. This film is based on an idea and the screenplay of the German author EWHeine.
