The last witness is a crime series which was broadcast from the Second German Television ( ZDF) between 1998 and 2007.
It is not the usual one or two Kriminalkommissaren, but by a coroner, Dr. Robert Kolmaar, played by Ulrich Mühe. Constant companions of the Berlin-based episodes are his colleague Dr. Judith Summer (played by Gesine Cukrowski ) and his friend, First Detective Inspector John "Joe" Hoffer, head of the second homicide of the Berlin State Office of Criminal Investigation, played by Jörg Gudzuhn.
In supporting roles Theresa Scholze played as Kolmaars daughter Anna, Hoffer Wizard Wolfgang wood man (Andreas Maria Schwaiger, 1998-2002), Max Kolditz (Mark Majowski, 2000-2006) and Etzel Hanisch ( Daniel Krauss, 2004-2007), section assistant Fred Schroeder ( Volker Ranisch ), the prosecutors Dr. Harald singer ( Leonard Lansink ) and Dr. Tanya Rose ( Claudia Messner ), the head of the Institute of Forensic Medicine, Prof. Dr. Sigmar Bondzio ( Dieter Mann ) and his secretary Ulla Grünbein ( Renate Schroeter ) called " Grünbeinchen ".
In the final season (2007) there was support at the autopsy table: Dr. Nadja Heron ( Lavinia Wilson), Dr. Kolmaar was not only unsolved murders aside. Even Commissioner Hoffer received a new colleague, Kriminaloberkommissar Jockel Loew ( Dominique Horwitz ).
The individual episodes lasted between 40 and 45 minutes. The series did not live solely by the genre typical " whodunit " (such as: " Who was it? "), But the authenticity of the characters and the private love entanglements of the characters Robert and Judith Kolmaar summer.
The music for the series composed by Günther Fischer. The books written mainly Gregor Edelmann, directed by Bernhard Stephan in almost all episodes.
All 73 episodes, spread over nine seasons have been released on DVD.
After the death of lead actor effort declared in November 2007, both Gesine Cukrowski and Jörg Gudzuhn not to stand for more episodes available. ZDF moved yet only in July 2008, officially of a sequel, and gave the setting of the series known.
