Der Protagonist

The protagonist is an expressionist play by Georg Kaiser, published 1920. The same text was also virtually unchanged, resulting for the 1924-1925, 1926, first performed opera of the same Kurt Weill used as a libretto.

The play is set in England at the time Shakespeare. A troupe of actors rehearsing two mimes; is a burlesque, the other tragic. One of the actors can not distinguish between its roles and reality.
