Derek Armstrong (ice hockey)

Derek Armstrong (born 23 April 1973 in Ottawa, Ontario ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player and current coach, who oversees the Denver Cutthroats of the Central Hockey League since summer 2012. During his playing career he was active among others between 1995 and 2010 for the New York Islanders, Ottawa Senators, New York Rangers, Los Angeles Kings and St. Louis Blues in the National Hockey League.

Career

Derek Armstrong began his career as a hockey player with the Sudbury Wolves, for which he was active from 1990 to 1993 in the Ontario Hockey League. During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1992 in the sixth round as the 128th overall player of the New York Islanders, for whom he made ​​his debut in the National Hockey League in the 1993/94 season. However, this remained his only use this season because he played the rest of the time for the Salt Lake Golden Eagles of the International Hockey League.
